We will travel through the old imperial cities where the authenticity is mixed with the modern architecture, from Rabat and its Royal tombs and Palaces to Meknes and its beautiful gates and great walls, and then to Fes the oldest imperial city and the cultural and spiritual capital of Morocco with its labyrinth markets and the beautiful colorful souks, ride camel and live like local people, spend a special night in desert camp under nomadic tents, enjoy a life time beautiful sunset over the great sand dunes of Sahara.
Itinerary
Upon arrival, I will pick you up to explore the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, travel to Fes via Rabat, Meknes and Volubilis. In Rabat, you will see the Hassan Tower and the Oudaya Kasbah. In Meknes, another significant imperial city in Morocco, known as the Ismaili capital of Morocco, you will see the famous gate Bab Mansour, the Sahrij Souani water reservoir, & the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. After lunch, your journey continues to Volubilis, the Roman ruins, dating to 25BC where some of the original mosaics are still in very good shape, explore the site and continue to Fes via the foothills of the Rif Mountains. Get to Fes at the end of the afternoon. Check in to your riad room which is in the heart of Medina. Overnight Riad . Welcome dinner .
After breakfast in your riad , you will start an exciting day visiting the cultural capital of Morocco, walking in its alleys and small streets escorted by a local tour guide. We will begin by the Royal Palace, the 'Mellah' Jewish quarter, listed the first Mellah ever built in Morocco. We will ensure that you visit all sites with cultural and historical interest including the famous Koranic school "Al Karaouine University", then to the Tanneries. After lunch, you will visit the ceramic factory and have a panoramic view over the whole Medina of Fes. The afternoon, we will visit the new city for a drink. Overnight accommodation in your riad.
After breakfast in your riad, you will leave Fes traveling towards Merzouga via Midlet and the Ziz valley. Today you will travel via the village of Ifran, a beautiful mountain village, referred to as “the Switzerland of Morocco” , you will also stop at the cedar forest on the middle Atlas Mountains. During this journey you’ll experience glimpses of the Middle Atlas and High Atlas mountains. Stopping at Azrou, a Berber village in the middle of the famous cedar forest – the largest in Morocco – where you may well sight Barbary apes Makak Monkeys. Your journey continues to Midelt along the magnificent hills and mountains of the Atlas. You will be travelling through the fascinating Tiz Ntalghamt pass and the Ziz Gorge, taking in views of the High Atlas plateau, you’ll notice how the scenery changes to reveal hints of the desert as you approach the city of Errachidia, here you will have lunch and enjoy the Berber hospitality, afterwards, you will travel along the luxuriant Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic views along the way to Erfoud and Rissani. Arrive to Merzouga in the afternoon. You’ll be welcomed with a glass of mint tea. Then you will get your camel, guided by an experienced camel man to explore within the sand sea of Merzouga. Enjoy a wonderful sunset over the golden dunes and sleep overnight at a luxury nomadic tent.
today, we will wake you up to watch the best sunrise of your life. You’ll peacefully camel-trek back to your riad. En-route you will appreciate the unique beauty of the spectacular Erg Chebbi sand dunes – sand colour's changes accordingly as the day progresses. After breakfast in the riad, you’ll leave for Rissani , Tinghir, and Todra gorges – the highest, narrowest gorges in Morocco. After lunch at the beautiful mountain gorge. Overnight accommodation will be in a fancy hotel overlooking the Todra valley.
After breakfast at the hotel we’ll drive through the Dades Valley towards Kalaat Mgouna and Ouarzazate. The route through Dades Valley is the way of the thousand Kasbahs – providing numerous opportunities to take some of your best picture shots. We’ll stop at Kalaat Mgouna, “the rose city”, to purchase the rosewater, which will make your linen smell good a long time after your trip is over. Continue to Ouarzazate, “the Hollywood of Africa”. Lunch at the famous Ait Ben Haddou kasbah, the largest Kasbah in Morocco. After the visit of this UNESCO matrimonial historical site, now a house of the Glaoui family members, our journey will continue through the majestic Tizi n’tichka Pass (2260m 7500 feets) over the High Atlas Mountains, before arriving at your accommodation in Marrakech, overnight at your riad
After breakfast in the riad , we start exploring Marrakech ” the red city of Morocco”. Your guide will ensure that you see the most important places of historical and cultural interest, including the Saadien tombs; the Palaces of El Bahia and El Badi; and the Ben Youssef Coranique School. Lunch at a restaurant near the square, then in the afternoon visit the gardens at Majorelle; Menara and the Koutoubia tower. After dinner you will have the opportunity to walk around the ‘Square Jemaa El Fna’ full with magicians, story tellers, snake charmers and food sellers. Overnight at Riad .
